German Coat of Arms

Coat of arms of Germany denotes the symbol of Germany. The symbol of Germany or German coat of arms is unique since it is being oldest but still in existence. The colors in the german coat of arms contain the same colors which are found to be present in their national flag. The German coat of arms contains an eagle present in it. The flag of Germany contains red, gold and black. The same colors red, gold and black are also present in the eagle present in German coat of arms.
Eagle became the emblem of Germany before a long period of time. During twelfth century black eagle was considered as coat of arms in Germany. Then during fourteenth century double headed eagle was considered as coat of arms in Germany. By the middle of fifteenth century it was decided to place the emblem on eagle’s chest. In 1848 double headed eagle rested on golden shield was considered as emblem but it was never accepted by every one.
During the year of 1867 a new coat of arms with two men standing was selected as coat of arms in Germany. By the reign of Weimar republic coat of arms containing an eagle with red, gold and black colors on it is adopted. It was accepted by the start of Nazi party when Adolf Hitler ruled Germany but later made some changes in it. The Nazi party placed a swastika in the centre and made the eagle in the emblem to be looking towards left side which symbolizes that it denotes Nazi party. Then after the world war changes were made and the current usage of German coat of arms is almost same as when it was used during Weimar republic except for the change made in position and shape of the wings of eagle.
